Fine Arts Department

Before you is the Katherine Anne Porter School Fine Arts Department, each with their own set of skills and classes. Together they create a dynamic that gives kids ways to see, touch and hear their creativity!

Michael Moore

Department Head

Mr. Moore is an artist, puppetmaker/puppeteer, former musician and librarian. He holds a B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from the University of Texas at Austin, and a M.F.A. in Painting and drawing from the University of North Texas. He also Holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Mr. Moore has an extensive background in film/video and theatrical production. He has taught at both the college and lower school levels, and is excited to bring his unique and varied gifts to the KAPS program.

Katie Gardner

Sculpture Art

Although a Texas native, Mrs. Gardner is a graduate of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and holds a B.F.A. in Studio Art: Drawing and Painting, with an emphasis in Art History, and a Master of Education in Curriculum Design and Instruction from AIU. She is an artist, animal enthusiast, avid gardener, and lover of all things music. 

Mrs. Gardner uses a variety of art media to inspire students to find their voice, and discover themselves through their own creative process.

Korbin Evans

Digital Media

Korbin Evans is a KAPS graduate of 2018, and after a gap year where he took time to find himself, he thought to follow a path of creativity starting with the field of video games.

Korbin now dedicates most of his free time working towards his creative endeavors of designing both Comic Books and Storyboard animations for his future endeavors as a lead director of his own studio.

Seeing an opportunity to help provide an atmosphere that directly had helped him in return, he felt it only natural to work here, at a place he truly believes in.

Julian Moreno

Music

Mr. Julian Moreno has previously taught a variety of music lessons and classes of all ages. After picking up the trombone in 6th grade and falling in love with music, he decided to pursue an education in music at Texas State University in 2020. (He will be graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in Music concentrating on classical trombone with a minor in Family Sciences and Human Development)

During his time here in the Hill Country he has performed with the Texas State BMB, Salsa Del Río, Symphonic winds, and Jazz lab band. When Mr. Moreno is not playing trombone, he spends his time practicing other instruments, hiking, and traveling.
